Guacamole + Hummus = Guacahummus

So the other day I was struggling to decide on a snack (#firstworldproblems). I was craving guacamole but was also craving hummus (and some Oreos) but I couldn’t decide between the two. I thought to myself, “why don’t you just combine the two?”

So I did!

That, my friends, is when the 9th wonder of the world was created in my very own kitchen!

That’s right. Guacamole + Hummus = Guacahummus deliciousness. There is the nuttiness that we all love from hummus and the creamy spicy kick from a great guacamole! The chickpeas offer some great protein while the avocado comes in with great healthy fats. It is literally the perfect marriage.

This guacahummus is fabulous on pita chips, tortilla chips, sliced up peppers and even carrots! The best part is it takes about 5 minutes to make from start to finish so I’ve practically been living on it. Today I made a batch of homemade pita chips to go with it, so I will include the How To on them as well!

Here’s how I made it:

 What You'll Need:
1 Can of Chickpeas(garbanzo beans) drained and rinsed
 1 Ripe Avacado
 1 Jalapeño
 1/2 Cup Cilantro
 1/2 Lemon squeezed
2 Large Cloves Garlic (I put mine through a garlic press)
1 Tsp Salt (or more to taste)
 Olive Oil
 10 Pita Rounds

Step 1: Preheat oven to 325 and gather ingredients.guacamole hummus

Step 2: Combine drained chickpeas, chopped cilantro, jalapeño (I left the seeds in mine and just cut into 3 pieces), garlic, lemon juice, salt and 2 tbs of olive oil into a blender or food processor.guacamole hummus

Step 3: Blend. Stir frequently so that everything combines.guacacmole hummus

Step 4: Add water and blend until you reach the desired consistency.guacamole hummus

Step 5: Put guacahummus into a container and put in refrigerator to chill.guacamole hummus

Step 6: Cut pita rounds into 8 pieces (like you would a pizza). Drizzle with olive oil and a dash of salt turn pita chips in order to coat both sides.pita chips

Step 7: Bake pita chips for 12-15 minutes or until golden and crispy.

Step 8: Take those pitas out of the oven and grab your guacahummus out of the refrigerator, plate them both and dig in!!!guacamole hummus
