5 Easy & Guilt Free Summer Time Desserts

5 Easy & Guilt Free Summer Time Desserts

So guys, I have a confession. I have a problem. The addiction is real. Now I’m not talking smoking or drinking, I’m talking dessert.

That’s right, I was ‘blessed‘ with not just one sweet tooth but a full set. It doesn’t matter if it’s cake, cookies, pie, even those little gummy sharks…I love it all! Girl Scouts are my best friend yet simultaneously my worst enemy.

You get the point.

Back in my heavier days my ‘sweet teeth’ really got the best of me. Desserts were a huge factor in my 50+ pound weight gain. I kid you not, I would make brownies, cookies, or cinnamon rolls for dessert every night.

EVERY. SINGLE. NIGHT.

When I made myself the promise to change my life and get heathy, my ‘sweet teeth’ didn’t just disappear. The cravings were still really strong and I struggled with it.

I knew cutting out sweets all together was just totally unrealistic for me so I needed to figure out alternatives that were healthier, yet still satisfying. After a few years of researching (the book series Eat This, Not That and Pinterest were a huge help) and trial and error I have come up with a huge selection of treats!

Here are 5 of my Favorite Easy and Guilt Free Summer Time Desserts!

1. Greek Yogurt- The easiest of the bunch, simply grab your favorite Greek yogurt (I love Dannon Light & Fit Cherry), pop the top, and enjoy! My husband eats one of these every night before bed! They have great protein and are low in sugar but taste SO GOOD.

2.  Three Ingredient Ice Cream- Instead of tossing those overly ripe bananas, freeze them! When you’re in the mood for ice cream, grab one of the bananas, mix with 2 tablespoons of peanut butter and blend with almond milk until you achieve your desired consistency. Ta da!

3. Rice Cake with Peanut Butter- I love this easy treat at any time of day, but especially at night! Take one rice cake (I like the caramel or apple cinnamon flavors) and smear with 2 tablespoons peanut butter. Sometimes I will even top these with sliced bananas, cinnamon, or dark chocolate chips!

4. Fruit- So this is probably my favorite summer time dessert…I love any kind of fruit but I particularly love watermelon and pineapple! While I like the watermelon raw, I really enjoy cutting my pineapple and throwing it on the grill for a couple of minutes! (If you are a fan of grilling, like I am, click here for more grilling recipes!) This makes the pineapple even sweeter and reminds me of a warmer, pie like, treat!

5. Ice Cream Sandwiches- Now who doesn’t love a good ol’ ice cream sandwich? Simply put 2 tablespoons of sugar free/fat free cool whip in between two graham cracker squares (they even make a chocolate flavor), throw them in the freezer for 10 minutes and you have yourself a healthier version of the classic that we all are accustomed to!
